Here's what we were working with - two aging R-22 air conditioners that had simply run their course. R-22 is a refrigerant that's been phased out, meaning parts are harder to find, recharging the system is expensive, and repairs start to cost more than the equipment is worth. At a certain point, keeping an old R-22 system alive stops making financial sense.
This Paddock Lake home renovation was the right time to make the switch. Both units came out, and we got two new condensers set in their place on fresh pads. Clean, properly sized, and set up to actually handle the cooling load this home needs - not just limp along.
Replacing two systems at once isn't the most common job, but it comes up more than you'd think - especially on larger homes or split-level layouts where two separate systems handle different zones. Getting both done at the same time means you're not dealing with a second round of this in a year or two when the other unit gives out.
The difference between an old, struggling system and a properly installed new one isn't just comfort. It shows up on your energy bill. Modern equipment runs more efficiently, cycles properly, and doesn't have to work overtime to hit your set temperature. That matters a lot heading into the warmer months.
If your AC is old, running on R-22, or just not keeping up the way it used to - those are all worth paying attention to. We're always happy to take a look and give you an honest read on where things stand.
