Here's what we were working with - an aging furnace that had clearly been running well past its prime. The cabinet showed heavy wear, rust staining, and gaps where it connected to the ductwork. Systems like this don't just lose efficiency over time. They become unpredictable, and that's when you start getting surprised by breakdowns at the worst possible moments.

The old outdoor A/C unit was in similar shape. Getting that system properly decommissioned and the refrigerant handled correctly is a big part of a job like this - not something you skip over. We made sure everything was done right before the new equipment ever went in.

What went in was a new furnace paired with a heat pump. That combination gives a home the best of both worlds. The heat pump handles heating and cooling efficiently when outdoor temps are mild, and the furnace kicks in as a reliable backup when it gets cold. It's a setup that makes sense for year-round comfort and keeps energy use in check across all seasons.

The after shot of the new furnace install tells the story clearly - clean sheet metal, tight connections to the existing ductwork, and a unit that's properly sized and positioned. The difference between what came out and what went in is significant, and this homeowner won't have to think much about their HVAC system for a long time.

If your system is getting up there in age or you've been dealing with repeated repairs, fall is a smart time to take stock of where things stand. Replacing a furnace or A/C before it completely gives out puts you in control of the timeline instead of scrambling when it fails mid-season.
